AEDS axle motors for rail vehicles are direct-drive motors that act directly on the axles of the rail vehicles to power the wheelsets of the rail vehicles. Currently, AEDS axle motors have been successfully used in intelligent self-traction train flat cars to provide them with output power systems with a maximum speed of 10km/h and a gross weight of 100 tons.

Unlike traditional traction motors for rail vehicles, AEDS axle motors can provide power for the wheelsets without being connected to the wheelsets via transmissions, so AEDS axle motor power systems feature a compact size, a light weight, a simple structure, a high torque density, low noise and maintenance-free, etc., which can reduce logistics costs and transportation costs.
